Week left to give to The Rotary Foundation!

There is only one week left for clubs and Rotarians to give to The Rotary Foundation. Out total District 7600 Rotary Foundation giving is lagging behind last year at this time according to Joy Kline’s “Joy” Report.

Is it enough that we just meet our goals?

Well, that may depend on the integrity of the goals set. Just remember that the amount of monies available for district grants in a given year depend upon the district’s annual fund giving amount three years prior. If ho hum goals have been set and met, then three years later there will be ho hum funds available for worthy district grant.

The same applies for global grants:

District giving three years prior also impacts funds for global grants. The only difference being that at least some unused funds in the World Fund can be rolled over from one Rotary year to the next.

So, make the final 2018-19 Joy Report, Joyful!

$229 Per Capita, Annual Fund, DRFC Chuck, Giving Tuesday, Make a Difference in the World, Share, The Rotary Foundation

Thank you, District 7600 Rotarians … a message from your District Rotary Foundation Chair (DRFC)

This message from DRFC/PDG Chuck Arnason appeared in the July/August issue of the Spirit of 7600.  Chuck is away playing at Rotary International Headquarters in Evanston, so this article is printed without his permission :))

A Milestone Giving Year for District 7600 … Donating to a charity is always a very personal decision. We all give to charities because we have some affinity for the organization’s cause or goals.  It is the same with our Rotary Foundation. Rotarians give to The Rotary Foundation (TRF) for a variety of reasons.  We may feel that the cause of making the world a better place through Rotary is a worthy goal. We may be encouraged by the SHARE program which sends money back to the district after three years for district specific initiatives.

During the Centennial

“Doing good in the world” comes in many forms. During the Centennial Celebration of TRF, our district had a very successful year. We were able to establish some new milestones.  Per capita Annual Fund giving was up 8.5% over our previous high to $229.32.  Our total Annual Fund giving was $632,246.42, a new milestone.  Our total giving to TRF for the year was $791,095, up from our previous record of $748,419.  The success isn’t in the numbers but what the increased giving means to communities around the world. The increased giving this year means that people we will never meet and faces we will never see will have a better life through Rotary.

The “Giving Tuesday” effort our district held on May 30 produced contributions of $50,000 to the Annual Fund. By using the matching points offered that day, 47 Rotarians were able to become a Paul Harris Fellow or reach their next level of Paul Harris Fellow.

Whatever your reasons for giving, I want to thank you! Because, as District 7600 Rotarians, you continue to Make A Difference in the world.

Chuck

Annual Fund, Chuck Arnason, Club Giving Goals Status, Facial Hair, Joy Kline

Tips on the removal of facial hair were nixed, but … do you want to know where your club’s giving stands?

chuckheadshavingRemoval of facial hair just didn’t arouse any interest, though Chuck lost quite a bit of hair a couple of years ago on a bet. Instead of hirsute matters, we will give all an update on the status of District 7600 club giving for the 2016-17 Rotary year.  These figures are as of the end of February and in a couple of weeks, we will have the end of March figures.  You can find more up to date figures for your club in Rotary Club Central under Club Giving Reports.

For now, if your club is in the 66% range of club giving at this time according to the Annual Fund Goals FEB 2017,  otherwise known as the ‘Joy Report’, then your club is pretty much on track.  We know that some clubs save all of the donations up until the very last possible moment before forwarding to The Rotary Foundation, but we always hope they will change their ways.

The Joy Report is prepared by Joy Kline to assist clubs quickly understand the status of their giving as compared to the goals set for the 2016-17 year.  Joy is the District Rotary Joy KlineFoundation Committee Annual Fund Chair and a member of the Goochland Club.   When you see her in the future, please express some gratitude, please.

Is your club heading for a Banner year?

Annual Fund, Giving Banners

Clubs are stacking up … giving wise

A scan of the District Monthly Contribution Report provided some good news … better for some than for others.

As of the end of December (January figures should be ready shortly), 33 of our 64 clubs were at 50% or more of their annual fund goals set way back in the spring of 2016 for the 2016-17 year.  A few clubs were at 100% or better.  This probably isn’t news to those of you who attended the Presidential Retreat on January 28th.

The total of the Annual Fund goals set by the clubs for the 2016-17 Rotary year came to $476,290.  Understand that some clubs set what they considered safe goals, while other clubs set optimistic or even heroic goals.  So we get that.  As of the end of December, the total Annual Fund giving totaled $229,085 … almost halfway there.

So, thank you, and keep charging.  There may be a club giving Banner for you at the Foundation Awards Banquet.

trfbanners-2017-18Speaking of Banners …

You may recall that there was a small change in the Banner categories in the 2015-16 year. They have been clarified and now there are five basic Banners available for club giving.  The same chart above is available as a pdf for your printing pleasure by clicking  banner-summary .

Chesapeake PETS (Presidents-Elect Training Seminar) on the horizon

So soon our 64 Presidents-Elect will be on the loose appointing committee chairs and asking for input on setting club goals.  If your P-E reaches out to you … please help him or her out, especially if you are a Club Foundation Chair.

Got questions.  Would be great to hear them.
