Carol Chamberlain, Colleen Bonadonna, District Polio Chair, India, Jan Rowley, National Immunization Day, Thank You

Thank you, District 7600 Rotarians:

District 7600 Rotarians are among the most generous donors in the Rotary world.  As a district, we are among the upper echelons of giving to The Rotary Foundation.

Reem Ghunaim & me (2)

Chuck with Reem Ghunaim, Executive Director, Rotary Action Group for Peace

Our Rotarians give not only money but also time and sweat equity.  We have Rotarians participating in National Immunization Days (NID) in at-risk countries; this year we are being represented by Carol Chamberlain (Warwick@ City Center), Jan Rowley (Prince George) and Colleen Bonadonna (New Kent) in the India NID in January. Colleen, District Polio Chair, has been on many such NIDs.  Earlier this year, many of our 7600 Rotarians traveled to Honduras as part of the work with the pediatric heart surgery clinic we helped establish in a widely supported global grant.  Your support of the Foundation makes a world of difference by helping others in need – from supplying vaccine that protects children from the polio virus to providing water filtration systems that protect villagers from deadly waterborne illnesses.  At home, you are ringing the bells for the Salvation Army, refurbishing parks, donating and distributing dictionaries, and many, many other good works in our communities.

So, at this time of focus on family and home during the holidays, I thank you, our District 7600 Rotary family for your generosity and caring. I am honored to be among you.  Because of you, we are Rotary: Making a Difference.

Chuck Arnason

District Rotary Foundation Chair

$138000, 2016, 2017, Blessings, District Grants, Pediatric Cardiac Unit, Ruth Paz Hospital, San Pedro Sula Honduras, Thank You

Rebecca and Chuck

As we enter the Holiday Season and 2016 draws to a close, it’s time to count our blessings and recall what we are thankful for during 2016.  I am thankful that through a Global Grant the district was able to purchase, ship, and install all needed equipment to create a permanent pediatric cardiac unit in Ruth Paz Hospital in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. The unit included a pediatric cardiac ward, operating room, and ICU. Through a Vocational Training Team (VTT) effort we were able to train local health workers to run the pediatric cardiac unit year-round.

I am thankful that we could send over $138,000.00 to clubs in our district in the form of district grants.  That amount was matched by over $200,000.00 from other sources to make a major impact on the communities in our district.  We were able to build a playground, renovate a park, provide free eye exams to underprivileged children, and so much more.

I am thankful for the generous Rotarians in District 7600 who provided the funds for these projects through their contributions to the Annual Fund.  This year’s giving is 20% higher than the same time last year.  This will mean more available funds in the years to come to do good in the world.

Yes, I am thankful that I was asked to be a Rotarian. It has changed my life!  What are you thankful for?

Chuck

Happy Thanksgiving, Joy Kline Annual Fund Chair, Joy Report, My Rotary Maintenance Dec 3-5, New Giving Records, Thank You

District 7600 Rotarians are truly a generous lot … thank you!

Because of your generosity our District set a new per capita giving record for the 2015-16 year and a new record for total Annual Fund giving. You are amazing gifts to the world.

thank-you-rotarians

And our generosity continues …

JoyKline

Joy Report Skirt

Joy Kline, our District Annual Fund Chair, reports that the 7600 clubs are already contributing in a big way. Joy recently reviewed the October figures for Foundation giving and found  that we have 15 clubs that are at 33% or higher on their goal—we are roughly a third through the Rotary year.

The Church Hill and Fluvanna Clubs are already exceeding 100% of their goals.

Our district year to date giving is $78,880 as compared to $69,223 as of October 2015.

Joy compiles a very handy Joy report each month.  In January we will begin disseminating the monthly Joy Report, however, if you’d like to see the October report feel free to contact Joy.

Thank you, again Rotarians.

FYI …

Significant functions on My Rotary (rotary.org) will be interrupted at various times during the weekend of December 3-5 as end of year and regular website maintenance are performed.

Have a great Thanksgiving!

Global Grants, Gwen Carter, Petersburg Rotary, Thank You

Welcome back from the holidays:

As we enter the second half of the Rotary year and the preparation months for the next pi5preeiBRotary year, we veteran Club Foundation Chairs and Foundation Advocates know we will be pulling reports, following up on promises to give, checking status of district grants, helping set future goals, and generally cheer leading from the front lines. Our goals are to ‘Finish Strong … and Get Ready.’

And think about this …

For a moment let’s remember that as Rotarians we are sharing when we give, whether it is giving our time, talent, or money.  Let’s resolve to be thankful and express our appreciation for the sharing in which our Rotarian colleagues engage.

Gwen Carter

Gwen Carter-Petersburg Rotary

I was reminded of this thought while clearing my desk this morning as I came across a thank you note I had received on behalf of the Petersburg Rotary. The pre-published legend captured the essence of Rotary giving and the handwritten note by Gwen Carter captured my heart. It made me feel so special.

Thanks to you for what you do as Foundation Advocates and Club Foundation Chairs. Without you we could not ‘Bee a Gift to the World.’

And thank you to Gwen for taking the time to bring a smile to my face.

4th of July, Thank You, The Rotary Foundation

Have a safe and colorful 4th of July

Today, no exhortations to get those donations in.  No urging to input those Foundation giving goals.  You are great Rotarians and you are doing what you can to help the clubs, the district and The Rotary Foundation to meet our goals.

Today, a big, big thank you for the time, energy, and personal commitment on your part to do good in the world. Thank a veteran and raise a glass to the USA.
