#STARS 16 Days & Counting:

Good news.  You have 16 days to register for the District 7600 #Join the STARS (#STARS for short!)

At least 3 members from each club should attend, if not more.  There are three separate seminars and each Rotarian registers for just one of the seminars … either Membership, Public Image, or Foundation. The chairs or at least a member of each club committee in these areas should be present to learn:

  • best practices
    • Foundation led by Chuck Arnason & Team
    • Membership lead by Mike Jallo & Shel Douglas
    • Public Image led by JoAnn Meaker & team
  • latest Rotary International messaging in each seminar
  • requirements in the documentation updates for clubs activities & projects
  • latest grant requirements with a focus on Community Assessments
  • Lashonda Delivuk, D7570 Public Image Vice-Chair, speaking in both the membership & public image seminars

Clubs, a message to all … want to excel in innovative club presence, reporting, and starsvitality … send as many club members as possible to be exposed to and ride the rockets that will send your club to the #STARS.

Register by July 28th on dacdb.com calendar and #JoinTheStars!

When you have registered consider, going on your facebook page and put #STARS into your post and mention that you have registered for one of the seminars.  If you want to tell folks which one use a hashtag, e.g. #foundation or #membership or #publicimage. That will build the buzz for the seminars.

Million$Year … 2017-2018

The Rotary Foundation books have closed for the 2017-2018 year.  There will be some adjustments, but it is totally safe to report that in Past District Governor John Padgett’s and District Rotary Foundation Chair, Chuck Arnason’s past year, District 7600’s members donated 1.1 million dollars in total giving. More refined figures will be released soon, but needless to say, this is a B A N N E R year for District 7600. More on the other figures very soon.

Rotary Nights at the End Polio Now Games in July

It looks like we will have a very healthy 2016 -2017 giving year.  Thank you, everybody.

But Rotarians’ good works are never finished.  We can kick off the new Rotary year with gusto by supporting the End Polio Now Rotary Night games with the Richmond Squirrels (July 13) and the Norfolk Tides (July 24) organized so ably by Stan & Debbie Wall and David Mansfield.  The Squirrels game begins at 6:35 pm and the Tides game begins at 7:05. The gates open earlier to allow plenty of time for hotdogs, nachos, and beer prior to the game beginning.

Each club should have appointed a club member to be the organizer of the effort for the club by taking reservations and ticket payments from the club members, and then communicating timely with the team representatives to reserved sections of the stadiums for the club members.  Attendees are asked to wear either the red End Polio Now tee shirt or any red shirt so that the Rotary sections will stand out at the games.

There is still time to order the End Polio Now tee shirt from Stan and Debbie Wall.  The
RTEE7red ‘End Polio Now’ t-shirts for sale are $10 for most shirts and $12 for the fulsome 2x and 3x sizes.  A dollar from each shirt sale goes back to End Polio Now.  You can contact Stan & Debbie at stan.debbie.rotary@comcast.net.

With this shirt, we can turn the stadium bleachers red and really ramp up the Rotary and End Polio Now profile.

A portion of each ticket is donated to End Polio Now and is one of the underpinnings our effort to support the matching grants from the Gates Foundation and other foundations and governments to thwart this crippling disease.  Each club gets credited with the donated amount generated by that club’s ticket purchases.  A great jump start to the clubs’ giving goals.

So look up your club’s Rotary Night Game organizer and make your reservations now. Remember to include family members, neighbors, friends, prospective members and just ask them to wear a red shirt.  Let’s have a ball!

Generous Donors …

District 7600 has so many generous donors to The Rotary Foundation it is usually impossible to recognize them individually in District publications, though we try. Today, however, we take a moment to share the generosity of two couples from District 7600 who give, not only of their time, but also of their hearts and funds to meet needs now and in the future.

The couples are four Rotarians … Stan and Debbie Wall of the Colonial Heights club and Rudy and Catherine Garcia of the Fluvanna club.  These four Rotarians had the honor of being recognized at the District Conference by  Samuel Owori, the Rotary International President’s Representative to our conference and a Past Rotary International Director. Though it is no official yet, it is expected that he will be our Rotary International President in the 2018-2019 Rotary year.  Mr. Owori was assisted in his duties on this occasion by the District Rotary Foundation Committee Chair and Past District Governor, Chuck Arnason.

Stan and Debbie Wall received recognitions  for having received Major Donor Level 2 and Bequest Society Level 4. They have created named funds and have designated 50% of their funds to Literacy, 25% to Water & Sanitation, and 25% to the World Fund.  Stan and Debbie are both past presidents of their club and are active at Zone 33-34. They also serve in current District 7600 capacities, Stan as an Assistant Governor for Area 7 and Debbie is doing double duty as the District Communications Officer and District Secretary.

Rudy and Catherine Garcia are very active Rotarians.  Rudy is a past president of his

club and Catherine is the President-Elect.  Rudy is the Development Chair for the District Rotary Foundation Committee and Catherine is the Fluvanna club’s Interact sponsor at Fork Union Military Academy.  The Garcias have reached Major Donor status and Bequest Society Level 2. They created a named fund and designated their funds for the District’s Annual Fund – Share.

There will be more about these dedicated district couples and about the particulars of designation at various levels of giving in the near future, but if you have a chance before then to reach out to Stan, Debbie, Rudy, or Catherine, please give them a ‘Well-done’.
